And it came to pass that my brother did frolic in the yard of mine neighbors, even to which manner and extent that he did lose his shoe. And he pleaded unto me saying, “Brother, come hither and helpest me, wherefore that I may find it, that I may be shod.” And I, Jared, knowing that men are forgetful creatures, did inquire of the man asking, “ For what reason seekest thou this shoe?” And he answered unto me saying, “To be shod wherefore, that I might protect mine feet from the thistle and the thorn, which doth cumber the ground.” And I did inquire further, and he did understand for what cause he desired this thing. And it came to pass that we did seek in dark places, yea, and in all corners of the yard therein, that he might be shod. And it came to pass that I did stumble upon the footwear amidst the plants of the yard thereof, and I called saying, “Look!” And he looked, and beheld the shoe therein. And it came to pass that he did cause himself to rejoice in the sight thereof, and did shod himself accordingly. And I, Jared, beholding his gladness did ask, “Brother, art thou thankful unto me, that I did find your shoe, that ye may be shod, even so that ye may not suffer the thistle and thorn, which doth cumber the ground?” And he answered saying, “ Nay.” -And did run speedily with shod feet.
